in our sights

"The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, nor touched...but are felt in the heart."
-Helen Keller

Where we see beauty, action, color or new perspectives, we try to capture them the best we can.

Jill and Jason ringing in the New Year in 2003 on the beach in Nice, France. This, believe it or not, was a self portrait. Thank God for long arms!
Our new niece Norah, only about a day old here, resting nicely.
We took a little trip to New York in September 2003 and got some great shots. This one of the Empire State Building was taken just before dusk just before it started raining.
Later that night we hit Times Square and captured the 24-hour hustle of New York City.
The next day, famished, we ended up at Katz's Deli, home of this belt buster. I still have dreams of that pastrami.
Battery Park is a great place. Looking out at Lady Liberty and the Hudson River can't be beat.
Big fans of TV's "The Restaurant," we reserved a table at Rocco's on 22nd and got to sample "Mama's Meatballs." Darn good!
Taking a breather from miles & miles of walking, we ended up on the steps in front of FAO Schwarz. Unfortunately, there was absolutely no time when there wasn't either a kid crawling on the bear or someone walking in front of me.
Skip ahead to our honeymoon. Honeymoon??? What happened to the wedding? That's a whole different web site. This was taken at Playa del Ropa in Zihuatanejo, Mexico. Absolute paradise. Also a perfect occasion to use a polarizing filter. I've never seen water so blue.
This is the beach right outside out hotel, Hotel Villa del Sol.
These romantic dinners on the ocean were par for the course in Zihuatanejo. This picture captures the serenity of the beach at sundown.
Somehow, the light really caught these gondolas lined up on the Grand Canal in Venice. I love the contrast of the black & white of the boats, along with the clash of horizontal & vertical lines.
To get this one (sans tripod), I sat my camera on top of a stone wall, rested the lens on top of two fingers to get the top of the building and held my breath. Took a few tries to hold steady, but this one turned out really nice.
This was at the exit of the Vatican museum. The time of day was just right to get a neat lighting effect on the spiral shape.
